Maritime sustainability

Island Forum is concerned about the overall sustainability of maritime trade beyond the economic aspect and therefore delves into the environmental and social aspects of the use of the seas.

Furthermore Islands Forum is engaged in maritime security and therefore works in supporting the proper implementation of the Colregs at sea. Hence IF supports and works in the area of:

• Standardisation of qualification of commercial Skippers;
• Education and training on the Colregs amongst pleasure cruisers;
• Vessel traffic identification systems;
• Innovation in technologies for appropriate marine traffic systems.
