Island Forum is concerned about the overall sustainability of maritime trade beyond the economic aspect and therefore delves into the environmental and social aspects of the use of the seas.
Blue Growth
About 70% of the planet is ocean and within the current specific endeavours is to reduce gas emissions, food security and energy deficient, the ocean offers opportunities for greater sustainability on the planet.
Digital Agenda
The internet is a source of great opportunities for both entrepreneurship and employment. To this effect access to super fast broadband within the islands is of paramount importance to Islands Forum.
Gender Equality
Whereas issues related to gender are not specifically Island related, nonetheless Islands Forum works on a number of gender related topics particularly to assist civil society in the Islands who specifically deal with this sector.
Energy
Islands are sometimes not only dependent on fossil fuel for all their energy needs but also dependent on specific restricted shipping methods to obtain it. Islands need to curb the use of fossil fuel in meeting their energy needs.
